Amsterdam

Monday, September 24th, 2007

On Sunday, I joined a number of students on an impromptu trip to Amsterdam, being sure to take advantage of the pefect weather. We spent the day on a walking tour of the city, enjoying the sights of the canals and parks.

De Ruif

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Every Wednesday night the international students gather at a De Ruif for a night of relaxing and socializing. On the way to De Ruif we pass through the city center, and there always seems to be something going on – this particular Wednesday brought us a carnival.

Delftse Hout

Monday, September 17th, 2007

The weather here changes very rapidly – most of the time it’s mostly cloudy, and getting rained on while biking to class isn’t that uncommon. When the weather’s good you learn to take advantage of it, so Sunday afternoon was spent on the banks of the lake in Delft’s largest park: Delftse Hout.

Den Haag

Monday, September 17th, 2007

On Saturday, some of the exchange students and I went on a bike trip to Den Haag to visit the beach, get some fish and chips, and enjoy another day on the bikes. Den Haag is the third largest city in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam and Rotterdam, and it’s only 8km away.

Le Tour de Zuid-Holland

Monday, September 10th, 2007

On Saturday, I met Megan and Julian through Sophie and Boris, and on Sunday, Megan, Julian, Sylvain, and I rode our bikes throughout Zuid-Holland (South Holland). The plan: visit the Vis Paleis (Fish Palace) near Hoek van Holland. The schedule: non-existant. The result: an amazing day exploring our surroundings and experiencing Dutch culture.
