Parque Metropolitano

...aka Cerro San Cristóbal

This afternoon was spent on a walking tour of Santiago’s Parque Metropolitano, the highlight of which consisted of the amazing city view from the top near the Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción. The husband of a woman who took our group photo spoke 12 languages, and he said that they live here in Santiago two months out of the year. For a family as well traveled as that to be here now, we realized we must be in the right place at the right time.

On the way back to the hostel to rest up for the evening, we grabbed a few completos (Spanish for complete), which are “complete” hot dogs covered in sauces such as guacamole, mayonnaise, tomatoes, sauerkraut, etc. The perfect food after a few hours of urban hiking.

Now it’s time to get ready to ring in the New Year with Marcos and his friends. ¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
